Hiking means enjoying nature and doing something good for body, mind and soul. The Passeiertal is a true hiking paradise with countless opportunities for hiking with different levels of difficulty.
Particularly popular are the trips to idyllic pastures and mountain farms. In addition to the walking and hiking trails in high elevations, there are also many easy-to-walk trails and easy tours especially for families with small children.
In recent years, some theme paths have been established. Among others the Schluchtenweg, the Kummerseerundweg, the Sonnenrundweg and many more.
In Obermais above Meran, where the Austrian Empress Elisabeth used to visit on a regular basis, there are now the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. Today, the castle houses the Museum of Tourism (Touriseum). It is about 200 years of Tyrolean tourism history. More than 100,000 plants, including 3,000 different species, have been planted in the four garden areas. Particularly interesting: grotto with multimedia show, geological mosaic as walkable rock world of Tyrol, Japanese garden, orchid house.
